Corporate Social Responsibility
For Civic Merchandising, being socially responsible means striving to incorporate company core values into everything we do − from how we run the business, to how we treat employees, to how we impact the communities we belong to.
Times may change, but Civic Merchandising’s core values will always revolve around three things: Service Excellence, Quality and Mutual Respect. Through company tailored Corporate Social Responsibility programs, the company is able to exhibit these values, not just to suppliers and principals but very importantly, to employees and communities as well.
Civic Merchandising sees corporate responsibility as a catalyst for growth and innovation, a way of giving back and a means to create significant changes with lasting impact.
CIMELA
Civic Merchandising Loan Association (CIMELA) was re-established in November of 2004 as a service for company employees. CIMELA mainly provides financial assistance with low interest rates, but since its inception, the association has expanded its service offerings to include discounted gym memberships, marked down grocery supplies, rice assistance plans and cellular phone plans.
CIMELA is also responsible in organizing corporate events such as sports festivals, excursions and companywide parties
To date, CIMELA strives to expand its service offerings for the benefit of its members.
Scholarship Program
Civic Merchandising believes in the importance of education. As such, the company grants scholarship programs to employees wishing to undertake further studies as well as primary, secondary and college degree to children of employees.
Educational assistance may also be granted to relatives of employees. Furthermore, Civic Merchandising awards scholarships to deserving students not necessarily associated with the company.
Every year, Civic Merchandising sends 12 students to school. Through this endeavor, the company is able to contribute to the increase in number of educated and literate Filipinos.
Medical Mission
Every year, Civic Merchandising organizes Give a Smile, Give a Life- a dental and medical mission to two hundred fifty (250) students of San Bartolome Elementary School in Novaliches. This mission aims to extend assistance in providing health care to the children.
Each one are given free checkups, tooth extraction and teeth cleaning by the professional medical team of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. To make sure the children stay healthy and nourished, Civic Merchandising seals the medical mission by handing out goody bags filled with vitamins, medicines and dental kits.
Through this project, Civic Merchandising hopes to give each beneficiary a healthier tomorrow.
Gift of Joy
The Gift of Joy is an annual outreach program conducted by Civic Merchandising every Christmas season to promote the holiday spirit and share its blessings to the community. For years, the company invites six hundred (600) students and faculty of San Bartolome Elementary School to the Civic Service Shop for some food, fun and freebies. Highlight of the event is the distribution of goodie bags, which includes a book bag, school supplies, uniform set, shoes and a big bag of grocery items for Noche Buena.
Recently, Civic Merchandising included the Children’s Joy Foundation as beneficiary of the Gift of Joy project. Aside from giveaways, the company also awards scholarship programs to ten (10) deserving children of the foundation.
Putting smiles on people’s faces is a big achievement for Civic Merchandising. It is a pleasure and an honor to be of service to the community we belong to.
